When Your Phone Becomes a Time Machine
You know that feeling when you’re looking for a recent photo and accidentally fall into the rabbit hole of old vacation memories? That happened to me this afternoon when I was trying to find a picture of Theo’s latest LEGO creation to send to my mom. Instead, I stumbled across our 2018 beach trip photos and suddenly the whole family was gathered around my phone in the kitchen.

Sophie was mortified by her 12-year-old self, especially the photo where she’s proudly showing off her first attempt at bodyboarding (spoiler: it did not go well).

Theo, meanwhile, was absolutely delighted to find the picture where he insisted that seashell was actually a ‘rare Cretaceous fossil’ and demanded we take it to a paleontologist.

Marcus just kept shaking his head and saying ‘Look how young we all were’ like it was decades ago instead of eight years.
The best part? Watching them rediscover that epic sandcastle we built together – the one that took three hours and involved an elaborate moat system that Theo designed.

We were so proud of that thing. I think I posted about twelve different angles on Instagram. Some things never change.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go book our next beach trip because apparently I’m feeling very nostalgic about sand in my car and sunscreen battles.
