Four Years and Counting

Four Years and Counting

👩‍⚕️ Elena 👨‍💻 Marcus

Four years ago today, I walked down the aisle at the Merrimon-Wynne House in a dress that cost more than our first month’s rent. Marcus cried. I pretended not to notice but took mental notes for future teasing purposes.

Four Years and Counting

Now here we are, crammed into 900 square feet with two kids, approximately forty-seven baby gadgets we “absolutely needed,” and Marcus’s growing collection of brewing equipment that he swears he’s going to use again someday. Sophie has claimed the living room as her personal toy warehouse, and Theo’s bouncy seat has somehow become a permanent kitchen fixture.

I pulled out our wedding album yesterday and couldn’t stop laughing at how young and clueless we looked. We had no idea what we were signing up for. The sleepless nights, the mysterious stains on everything we own, the way a simple trip to Target now requires the logistical planning of a military operation.

But you know what? I wouldn’t change a thing. Except maybe the square footage. Marcus keeps joking that we’re one more baby gadget away from having to sleep in shifts because there’s literally no room left in the bed. Time to start house hunting for real, I think. Happy anniversary to us – may year five come with a bigger kitchen and a laundry room that isn’t also the pantry.
