So Theo said his first word yesterday. I was expecting “Mama” or “Dada” like a normal baby. Instead, this child looked Marcus straight in the eye during dinner and said a very clear, very defiant “NO.”

Marcus immediately blamed me. “He learned that from you,” he said, like I’m the only person in this house who ever says no to anything. Meanwhile, I’m pretty sure Marcus says no to my restaurant suggestions every single night. “No, not Thai food again.” “No, I don’t want to go out.” Sound familiar, husband?

Of course, Theo chose the most dramatic moment possible - Marcus was trying to feed him sweet potatoes and Theo just threw up his tiny hand like a miniature traffic cop and declared “NO.” The determination on his face was honestly impressive. Sophie never had this much attitude at eight months.

I guess we know which parent he takes after. (Spoiler alert: it’s definitely Marcus. I’m never dramatic about anything.) 😇
