Tonight was Sophie’s kindergarten Thanksgiving play and you guys, I was NOT prepared for the emotions.

She had three whole lines as Squanto and she delivered them with the confidence of someone who’s been on Broadway for years.

I recorded the entire thing while trying not to sob loud enough to disturb the other parents. Marcus held sleeping Theo the whole time (that man deserves a medal) and kept giving me tissues. Sophie spotted us in the audience and gave us the biggest wave during the curtain call.

She came home still buzzing with excitement, telling us about how she helped another kid remember their lines and how the costume felt “so fancy.” We celebrated with hot chocolate and she insisted on staying in her costume until bedtime. Five years old and already owning the stage - I have a feeling this is just the beginning.
