Soccer Saturdays and the Art of Sideline Parenting
Saturday mornings mean one thing in our house: soccer chaos. Theo had a 9 AM game today, which means we were all up at 7:30 trying to locate shin guards, fill water bottles, and convince our eleven-year-old that yes, he does need to wear the actual uniform, not his dinosaur pajamas.

Soccer Saturdays and the Art of Sideline Parenting
shows our usual sideline setup - me in my camp chair trying to look like I know what’s happening on the field, Marcus filming everything because apparently our phone storage isn’t full enough.
The kid actually scored twice today, and I only had to redirect Marcus’s camera angle seven times. He’s learning that vertical video is not acceptable for capturing our son’s athletic glory.

My little midfielder in action
caught Theo mid-play, completely in his element. I love watching him out there - he gets this focused expression that reminds me he’s growing up, even if he still asks if pterodactyls could play soccer.

captures the real MVP moment though - halftime pep talk. Theo came over convinced the other team was “definitely cheating” because they were “running too fast.” I explained that’s called being good at soccer, mijo. He accepted this wisdom, grabbed his orange slices, and ran back out there ready to conquer the field.

Halftime pep talk from Mom
This is what Saturdays are for - watching our kids discover what they love, even if it means I now know more about offsides than I ever wanted to.
