Little Princess, Big Dreams
Was going through old photos on my phone (dangerous territory, I know) and found these gems from when Sophie was three.

Little Princess, Big Dreams
Look at that concentration! She was “helping” me bake cookies, which mostly involved her standing on the stool making very serious faces while flour somehow ended up everywhere except in the bowl.

Making her own music with kitchen utensils
This kid turned everything into a musical instrument. Those wooden spoons got more use as drumsticks than actual cooking utensils. And yes, that tutu was her daily uniform for about eight months straight. We went to the grocery store, the park, and church in that thing. She called it her “princess dress” and would not be convinced otherwise.

Always reaching for something just out of reach
The reaching phase was real. Everything interesting lived just out of her tiny grasp, which led to some very creative climbing solutions that gave me multiple heart attacks.

But then she’d do one of these spontaneous twirls and all the stress would melt away. Pure joy in tulle form.
Now she’s fifteen and rolling her eyes at most of my photo attempts, but sometimes I catch glimpses of this little girl still in there. The determination, the dramatic flair, the ability to find magic in the ordinary. Some things never change.
