Twenty-Nine: Still Standing

Twenty-Nine: Still Standing

Today I turn 29, and I woke up thinking I’d have some profound wisdom to share. Some grand revelation about life and motherhood and having it all together.

But here’s what I know: I’m still figuring it out. Sophie starts second grade next week and asks questions I don’t have answers for. Theo is two and speaks in his own language that only I understand half the time. Marcus and I are navigating this thing called marriage while trying to be good parents and decent humans.

The house has boxes I still haven’t unpacked from our move last year. My roots need touching up. There are days I eat goldfish crackers for lunch because that’s what the kids are having and I’m too tired to make something else. This isn’t the 29 I imagined when I was 22.

But you know what? I’m still here. Still standing. Still trying. And maybe that’s enough for now.
