Five Years of Theo (Plus One Scene-Stealing Dog)
My baby turned five today and I have about a hundred photos to prove it. What I also have is proof that our golden retriever has better camera presence than any of us combined.

We put a party hat on Biscuit as a joke - you know, cute dog at the birthday party, maybe one funny photo for the blog. Instead, he proceeded to position himself in the perfect spot for every single shot, looking directly at the camera like he was born for this. Meanwhile, Theo’s blowing out candles and I’m trying to get that perfect ‘my baby is growing up’ moment, and there’s Biscuit with his tongue out stealing the entire scene.

The birthday boy was excited about his presents. Biscuit was excited about being in the shot.
The present opening was no different. Theo’s tearing into his new dinosaur excavation kit (because of course), and Biscuit’s just sitting there in his party hat like he’s the co-host of this whole production. I’m starting to think we adopted an influencer who happens to be a dog. The engagement on these photos is going to be ridiculous and it won’t be because of my carefully planned decorations or Theo’s adorable gap-toothed smile.
Five years ago I thought having a baby would change everything. Turns out, getting a dog two months ago changed everything too. Happy birthday, Theo. Thanks for sharing your spotlight with your furry brother who apparently has more Instagram instincts than I do.
