So apparently while I’ve been working upstairs, Theo has been running a full-scale dog training operation in our kitchen.

I came down for coffee and found him putting Biscuit through what can only be described as a professional obedience routine. High-fives, roll overs, the works.

The kid has been secretly stashing dog treats and conducting these training sessions during his afternoon ‘snack time.’ I thought he was just being extra messy with his goldfish crackers. Turns out he was building a canine empire.

By the end of the demonstration, I was the one who needed to sit and stay. When did my nine-year-old become a better trainer than the expensive dog school we sent Biscuit to last year? Elena walked in just as Theo was taking his victory bow - apparently she’s been in on this the whole time. I’m the last to know everything in this house.
