Still Holding On
We needed toilet paper. Of course we needed toilet paper. It’s like the universe has a sensor that detects when you’re down to the last roll and immediately makes every store run an emergency mission.

So off to Target we went, because where else do you go when you need one thing and will inevitably leave with seventeen? Theo grabbed my hand in the parking lot without thinking about it, the same way he’s been doing since he could walk.

These hands won’t reach for mine forever.
I know these moments are numbered. His friends don’t hold their moms’ hands anymore, and he’s starting to notice things like that. But for now, crossing parking lots still feels safer with mom’s hand, and I’m not about to point out that he’s getting too old for it.

We made it to the automatic doors before he let go to grab a cart. Mission accomplished - toilet paper acquired, plus a bag of those cookies he likes and somehow a throw pillow I definitely didn’t need. Target wins again.
