Sophie announced at 7 AM that she was making me “breakfast in bed like fancy people.” The cereal was Cheerios with too much milk. The toast was slightly burnt. It was absolutely perfect.

Then Theo presented me with his masterpiece - a drawing of “Mommy fighting a dinosaur because mommies are the strongest.” I may have teared up a little. Okay, a lot. This is definitely going in a frame.

Marcus got me new running shoes, which means he’s either very supportive of my fitness goals or very tired of hearing me complain about my old ones. Probably both. The kids insisted on “helping” me try them on, which involved Theo explaining why velociraptors would be terrible at running in sneakers.

Being their mom is simultaneously the hardest and most rewarding job I’ve ever had. Some days I feel like I’m barely keeping it together. Today, eating soggy cereal in bed while my four-year-old explains dinosaur biomechanics, I felt like the luckiest person alive.
