Sophie announced in September that she was going as a ‘real witch, not a silly witch’ this year. By real witch, she apparently meant black dress, serious hat, and a very stern expression when anyone suggested adding glitter. She’s six and already has stronger aesthetic opinions than most adults I know.

Theo, shocking no one, chose dinosaur. Again. This is his third consecutive dinosaur Halloween, and honestly I’m impressed by his commitment to the theme. Less impressed by his spatial reasoning skills - the kid has walked into every door frame in this house at least twice today.

And this is why we measured doorways first last year

This is our first Halloween on Creekwood Lane, and I love that we actually know our neighbors now. Last year we were still unpacking boxes and hiding from the doorbell. This year Sophie has a whole route planned and Theo has already practiced his ‘RAWR thank you’ for every house. Marcus bought the good candy because apparently we have a reputation to maintain now.

Also, can we talk about how Marcus found a pumpkin shirt specifically for today? The man who owns seven identical gray t-shirts went out and bought seasonal clothing. Parenthood changes us all, I guess.
