Twenty-Nine and Sleepless
We had grand plans for Marcus’s 29th birthday. Cake, presents, maybe even staying awake past 8 PM like the wild party animals we used to be.

Twenty-Nine and Sleepless
Instead, my husband fell asleep holding our six-week-old before I could even light all the candles. Sophie, ever the opportunist, saw her chance and claimed his slice of chocolate cake. I probably should have woken him up, but honestly? He looked so peaceful, and Theo was sleeping for the first time all day.
This is parenthood with two kids under five. Birthday celebrations happen when they happen, sleep comes when it comes, and sometimes your four-year-old eats your cake while you’re unconscious in a kitchen chair. Marcus woke up an hour later, saw Sophie’s chocolate-covered face, and just laughed.
Happy birthday to the best dad I know, even when he’s too tired to celebrate it properly. Twenty-nine looks good on you, babe. Even with the drool on your shirt.
