So. Remember how I said we were “thinking about maybe possibly considering” another baby? Well, thinking turned into reality faster than expected. Baby Hartwell #2 is coming in spring 2015.

Plot Twist: We’re Having Another One

I told Marcus yesterday morning over coffee. He literally started crying before I even finished the sentence. Happy tears, but still. Then he spent twenty minutes calculating due dates and asking if I’d taken three tests. I had. All positive. Very, very positive.

Telling Sophie was… interesting. She listened very seriously, nodded, and then asked if she could name the baby ‘Sparkle.’ When we explained that wasn’t really a name people use, she suggested ‘Princess Sparkle.’ We’re still negotiating. She’s also concerned about where the baby will sleep and whether it will like dinosaurs as much as she does. Priority questions.

So here we are. Going from one kid to two. Sophie’s almost five and mostly independent, which feels like perfect timing and also terrifying. Two kids. Two kids! Send help. And coffee. Definitely coffee.
