Easter with a Toddler: An Exercise in Futility

We had such plans for Sophie’s first real Easter egg hunt. I bought the cutest little basket, filled plastic eggs with goldfish crackers and cheerios, and scattered them around the backyard like some kind of Pinterest mom. Sophie found exactly one egg before the whole thing derailed.

She sat down right there in the grass and decided that egg was her entire meal. Shell and all. The determination was impressive - she was gnawing on that plastic like it was a delicacy. I’m laughing but also mildly terrified because this is the same focus she applies to everything. When Sophie decides she wants something, the world better get out of her way.

Marcus finally had to trade her a cookie for the egg, but she kept the pieces she’d already chewed off. She’s going to be absolutely terrifying when she grows up, and I couldn’t be prouder.
