New Year, New Last Name, Same Beautiful Chaos
So here we are - our first New Year’s as the Hartwells!

New Year, New Last Name, Same Beautiful Chaos
Can we talk about how surreal it is to write that? Elena HARTWELL. Still getting used to it, not gonna lie. Yesterday we sat down to write our resolutions like responsible adults, and honestly, it was more entertaining than any reality TV show.

Writing down our ambitious plans
Marcus resolved to cook more actual meals instead of his usual rotation of cereal, sandwiches, and whatever I bring home from work. Ambitious, considering his idea of cooking is adding hot sauce to takeout. I wrote down “figure out how to be a wife, mom, and nurse without losing my mind” - which feels both totally achievable and completely impossible at the same time. And Sophie? Our brilliant daughter resolved to stop throwing her food.

Sophie’s already breaking her resolution
As you can see, some resolutions lasted longer than others. Sophie made it exactly fourteen hours before launching Cheerios across the kitchen like tiny edible confetti. Marcus lasted until this morning when he attempted to make pancakes and I found him googling “how to flip without breaking.” As for me? Well, I’m writing this at 6 AM before my shift starts while Sophie naps and Marcus stress-cleans the pancake disaster, so I’d say we’re all exactly where we expected to be. Happy New Year, everyone - may your resolutions be more realistic than ours!
