Merry Christmas from our little family to yours! This morning was everything I hoped our first Christmas as the Hartwells would be - chaotic, magical, and filled with way too much wrapping paper.

Sophie’s elf costume lasted exactly seven minutes before she discovered that wrapping paper makes the most satisfying ripping sound. Meanwhile, Marcus assembled her new toy kitchen and somehow ended up with two extra screws. “I’m sure it’s fine,” he said, giving it a shake that made a concerning rattling noise.

I attempted Abuela Rosa’s tamale recipe completely on my own for the first time. Only called Mom three times, which I’m counting as a victory. The kitchen looks like a masa bomb went off, but they actually taste like Christmas morning should.
