The Great Milestone Distribution Injustice

So apparently while I was in the shower this morning, Sophie decided to show off her new rolling skills for Marcus. I came downstairs to find him practically bouncing with excitement, going “She rolled over! She rolled over!” while Sophie just laid there looking smug about her achievement.

I’m thrilled, obviously. My baby girl is hitting her milestones and developing beautifully. But I’m also slightly devastated because this makes it official: Marcus has now witnessed both her first smile AND her first roll-over. The distribution of milestone witnessing in this house is completely unfair.

I’ve been home with her every day for four months, I’m the one who does most of the feedings, I’m the one who talks to her constantly about rolling over (“Come on, Sophie, you can do it!”), and yet somehow Marcus gets the front row seat to the big moments. Life is not fair, but watching him celebrate with her was pretty adorable, so I guess I’ll forgive him. This time.
