So I did it. I finally got my nose pierced at that little shop on Franklin Street that all the girls have been talking about. I’ve been thinking about it for MONTHS and today I just walked in during my break between classes and did it. The guy said I have a perfect nose for it (obviously) and it barely hurt at all.

Came home to show the family and OH MY GOD you would have thought I got a face tattoo or something. Mom literally started crying and asked where she went wrong as a mother. Dad just stared at me for like ten full seconds and then walked away without saying anything, which honestly hurt more than if he had yelled. But then Abuela Rosa looked at me, tilted her head, and said “Mija, you look like a rebel. I like it.” And that’s when I knew I made the right choice.

It’s just a tiny silver stud, people! It’s not like I joined a motorcycle gang or dropped out of school. Although now that I think about it, maybe I should have warned them first instead of just walking in like SURPRISE! But whatever, I’m 19 and I love it and I’m keeping it forever. Carmen is going to DIE when she sees it this weekend.
