When They Were Little (And Stayed in One Place)

🎭 Sophie 🦕 Theo

I was going through old photos today and found these gems from 2016 when Sophie was 6 and Theo was barely 2.

Look at those tiny faces! Sophie was already such a little helper, and Theo… well, Theo was exactly as chaotic then as he is now, just smaller and in dinosaur pajamas.

That serious concentration face Theo makes when he’s trying to pick up individual Cheerios? Still the same face he makes now when he’s building Lego sets. Some things never change.

And Sophie has always been the best big sister - even at 6, she was patiently teaching him how to use a spoon instead of his hands (spoiler alert: the hands won).

Story time at the breakfast counter

Story time at the breakfast counter

These breakfast story times were the best part of our mornings. Sophie would finish eating first and then read to Theo while he slowly worked his way through his cereal, one Cheerio at a time. Now they’re 15 and 10, and breakfast is a chaotic rush of backpacks and homework and “Mom, where’s my…?” But sometimes, if I’m really lucky, I still catch glimpses of these sweet moments between them.

Time really does fly. One day you’re cleaning Cheerios off the floor for the hundredth time, and the next day your “babies” are taller than you and rolling their eyes at your throwback posts. Good thing I have all these photos to remind them how cute they used to be when they inevitably claim they were never that small.
