When Biscuit Was Pocket-Sized
I was scrolling through old photos today and found these gems from Biscuit’s first week home.

When Biscuit Was Pocket-Sized
Look at him! He was so tiny I was genuinely worried we’d lose him in the couch cushions.
We bought him this massive dog bed because the internet said golden retrievers get big fast.

That bed seemed reasonable at the pet store…
He looked like a hamster in a king-size mattress. Elena kept saying we should have gotten the small size first, but I was convinced he’d grow into it within weeks. Spoiler alert: it took three months.

The rope toy won most battles back then
This rope toy was supposed to be for ‘small dogs’ according to the package. Biscuit treated it like a worthy opponent in mortal combat. He’d drag it around the house making these tiny growling noises that sounded more like squeaks.

Those paws promised the chaos to come
I took this photo to show people how big his paws were, thinking I was documenting some kind of puppy phenomenon. Now I realize every golden retriever owner has this exact same photo. Those paws were basically a warning label for the chaos that was coming.
