The Minecraft Paleontologist
Three weeks. THREE WEEKS my eleven-year-old has been working on this Minecraft project after school, muttering about “proper Cretaceous period accuracy” and “realistic habitat spacing.” I honestly thought he was just building random dinosaur stuff like any kid would.

Then today he dragged Marcus upstairs for the official grand tour, and y’all. This child built an entire functioning theme park. Complete with different geological periods, accurate dinosaur species for each era, visitor pathways, and - I kid you not - a gift shop. Marcus sat there for forty-five minutes getting the full explanation, asking questions like he was touring an actual museum.

The passion in this kid’s voice when he talks dinosaurs
The pride on Theo’s face when Marcus said “This is incredible, buddy” was everything. Sometimes I forget that underneath all the chaos and the one missing sock, this kid has his father’s eye for detail and his own brand of creative genius.

The tour ended with Theo explaining his “future expansion plans” which apparently include a working monorail system. Because of course they do.

The architect and his very impressed audience
Marcus emerged an hour later looking genuinely impressed and slightly overwhelmed. “Our son might be an actual genius,” he said. I mean, I’ve been telling him that, but apparently it takes a Minecraft T-Rex exhibit to make it official.
