Four Is a Big Deal (Ask Theo)
Theo turned four today and I’m pretty sure he thinks this makes him an expert on everything. He spent the entire party demonstrating his ‘authentic velociraptor call’ to anyone who would listen, which was everyone because how do you ignore a four-year-old making prehistoric sounds at full volume?

Four Is a Big Deal (Ask Theo)
Marcus tried to teach him about ‘indoor voices’ but gave up when Theo explained that dinosaurs lived outside so obviously they were loud.
The real showstopper was Sophie’s homemade birthday card. She spent an hour on it yesterday, complete with crayon drawings of all of Theo’s favorite dinosaurs and the message ‘you’re the best brother (sometimes).’

Sophie’s card said ‘you’re the best brother (sometimes)’ and Theo studied it like it was a scientific journal
Theo studied that card like it was peer-reviewed research, asking what ‘sometimes’ meant and whether it applied to when he borrowed her markers without asking. Sophie said yes, definitely.
It’s wild how different these two are. Sophie at four was drawing quietly in corners, making up elaborate stories for her stuffed animals. Theo at four is… well, he’s currently explaining to Biscuit why the Cretaceous period was superior to the Jurassic period while wearing his dinosaur pajamas backwards. Both approaches to being four seem valid.
Marcus made dinosaur-shaped pancakes this morning and only burned three of them. We’re calling it a win. Four years of Theo and somehow we’re all still standing. Here’s to whatever prehistoric chaos year five brings.
