When Nature Calls (And Nobody Wants to Answer)
Decided this beautiful spring morning was perfect for a family nature walk.

When Nature Calls (And Nobody Wants to Answer)
shows exactly how this announcement was received - Marcus immediately checking his phone for the weather (spoiler: it’s perfect), Sophie giving me her patented eye roll, and Theo literally jumping for joy. Biscuit was the only other enthusiastic participant.

Two minutes later and we’re already losing momentum
Getting everyone actually OUT the door took another twenty minutes. Marcus had to find his hiking boots, Sophie needed to “just finish this one thing” on her phone, and Theo was already collecting specimens in the backyard. At least someone was embracing the adventure spirit.

At least someone is appreciating nature
Once we hit the trail at Apex Community Park, the group dynamics were exactly what you’d expect. Theo immediately found something fascinating to examine with his magnifying glass (probably a beetle), Marcus started tracking our steps like we’re training for Everest, and Sophie found the most photogenic log to sit on while maintaining her social media presence.

Family bonding: achieved through mild coercion
By the end, everyone was actually walking together and I caught what might be the first genuine family bonding moment of the day. Marcus put his arm around Sophie, Theo was excitedly pointing out “dinosaur tracks” (definitely dog prints), and Biscuit was just happy to be part of the chaos. Sometimes you have to drag your family kicking and screaming into fun, but they usually thank you later. Usually.
