Halloween 2020: We Improvised
Halloween during a pandemic requires some creative problem-solving. Since traditional trick-or-treating was off the table, we set up a candy chute from our front porch and called it a day. Sophie went full doctor mode with a costume that may or may not have been influenced by her mother’s profession. The stethoscope was plastic but her pride was real.

Theo, predictably, chose dinosaur. This marks year three of the dinosaur costume streak and I see no signs of it ending. He spent the evening growling at every house we passed, whether they had candy or not. Marcus dressed as “tired dad” which required zero costume changes from his regular Saturday look.
Biscuit made his Halloween debut as a hot dog, which he tolerated with the patience of a saint right up until he discovered unattended candy.

Three fun-size Snickers later, he was banned from the candy bowl and relegated to supervised trick-or-treating duty. Sophie asked if she could keep the stethoscope for “future medical emergencies.” I said yes because honestly, in this house, we probably need it.
