My Favorite Artists

Sophie spent an hour yesterday making me a Mother’s Day card with enough glitter to blind a small village. Theo drew what he claims is me but looks suspiciously like a dinosaur wearing lipstick. I’m choosing to be flattered.

They presented them to me this morning over pancakes (that I made, naturally), and Sophie gave me the kind of hug that makes you forget about everything else for just a second. Theo told me I’m “the best mom in the whole Cretaceous period,” which is apparently very high praise in his world.

Some days are harder than others, but these two remind me why I’m exactly where I need to be. My kids make every hard thing worth it. Now excuse me while I go find more fridge real estate for these masterpieces.
