House Hunting: We Need More Space (and Fewer Stairs)

Marcus has a very specific checklist: garage for his “projects” (read: future hobby graveyard), good internet for work, and a basement “just in case.” My list is simpler but apparently more expensive: big kitchen, mudroom, and a yard where the kids can actually run around without me having panic attacks.

The mortgage calculator made Marcus cry actual tears yesterday. I pretended not to notice.

But then we found it. The house. Sophie ran straight to the swing set in the backyard and declared it “perfect.” Theo babbled happily from his stroller. And Marcus looked at the two-car garage and got that same dreamy expression he had when he proposed.
