And the Award Goes To...

👩‍⚕️ Elena 👨‍💻 Marcus 🎭 Sophie

Thanksgiving dinner was winding down when Sophie announced she had prepared “something special” for the family. What followed was three minutes of pure theatrical magic - if by magic you mean a three-year-old spinning in circles while belting out what I think was supposed to be “Let It Go” but sounded more like a fire alarm.

The performance included interpretive dance moves that defied physics, at least two costume changes (she kept adjusting her dress), and a finale that involved her taking a bow so deep she almost face-planted into the mashed potatoes. But the real star of the show? Abuela Rosa’s standing ovation. The woman clapped like Sophie had just performed at Lincoln Center.

Marcus whispered “Should we be concerned that our daughter is this comfortable being the center of attention?” I told him to look around the table - she comes by it honestly. At least she’s starting young. By the time she’s my age, she’ll have this whole performance thing down to a science.

Grateful for family, for laughter, and for toddlers who remind us that sometimes the best entertainment is completely unplanned. Also grateful that none of the good china was harmed during tonight’s production.
