Valentine's Day with a Baby Is Different (But Good Different)
We had it all planned out. Dinner reservations at 7, Sophie would go down at 6:30 like clockwork, we’d have two whole hours to pretend we’re still the couple who stays out past 9 PM. Marcus even got flowers - actual flowers, not gas station flowers, which deserves recognition.

Then Sophie decided 6:30 was actually the perfect time to have opinions about everything. The swing that usually works magic? Nope. The bouncy seat? Absolutely not. The only thing that would make her happy was being held by Daddy while Mommy ordered Chinese food and accepted that romance looks different now.
But you know what? Watching Marcus rock our baby girl to sleep while explaining why lo mein is basically a Valentine’s Day food (“It’s long like our love, Elena”) might actually be better than any fancy restaurant. Plus I’m in yoga pants and he still told me I look beautiful. That’s true love right there.
