My Boyfriend's Friends Are Actually Decent Humans

Derek, Ben, and a couple other guys came over tonight for what Marcus called ‘just hanging out’ but what I’m pretty sure was ‘let’s see if Elena is cool enough for our friend.’ Spoiler alert: I passed.

The best part was Derek telling me the story of how he literally pushed Marcus toward me at Mitch’s that night we met. Apparently Marcus had been staring at me for twenty minutes going ‘she’s way out of my league’ and Derek finally got tired of it and physically shoved him in my direction.

I have to admit, I was nervous about meeting Marcus’s people. But these guys are good humans. They’re dorky and they make terrible jokes and they clearly think Marcus is the best thing since sliced bread, which honestly makes me like them even more. Derek kept telling embarrassing college stories and Ben did this spot-on impression of their old roommate that had us all dying.

Also, they brought good beer. Points for that.
