One Year Down

One Year Down

👩‍⚕️ Elena

So I officially finished my first full year of clinical rotations yesterday and I’m still processing everything that happened!

One Year Down

One Year Down

Like, I actually feel like I’m becoming a NURSE. Not just a girl playing dress-up in scrubs, but someone who belongs in those hallways.

The highlight was definitely Mrs. Patterson - this sweet lady I took care of for three weeks during my med-surg rotation. When I walked into her room on my last day, she goes “Oh Elena! I was hoping you’d be here today.” She REMEMBERED my name!! After all the nurses who’ve taken care of her, she remembered ME. I literally almost cried right there.

Then there was the code blue I witnessed last month. I just stood there watching the nurses work and thinking “someday that’s going to be me.” It was terrifying and amazing at the same time. And when Professor Martinez told me I was “built for this” after my final evaluation… I mean, I’ve always known I wanted to be a nurse, but now I actually believe I can DO it.

Only two more years to go! Sometimes I can’t believe I’m actually going to graduate and have RN after my name. Still feels like a dream, but it’s MY dream and I’m making it happen.
